Role of Molybdenum in Potato Production

Molybdenum deficiency in potato

The visual expression of molybdenum deficiency in potatoes depends on the level of the micronutrient within the seed tuber. If the seed tubers are taken from a soil lacking in molybdenum (e.g. low pH soils), then the young developing leaves remain pale green and develop golden yellow chlorotic blotches. Deficiencies can be corrected with foliar applications of molybdenum.
