Yara had an impressive total for Hunger in Moose Jaw after a great season by the Moose Jaw Warriors
Throughout the season, Yara Belle Plaine and the Warriors teamed up for the "Wins for Hunger" program. Yara committed to donating $1000 to Hunger in Moose Jaw for every Warriors home game win. Hunger in Moose Jaw relies on community support to provide over 300 lunches every day to school-aged children throughout the city.
The Warriors impressive showing at home led to an impressive Wins for Hunger total, and it was the opening announcement of the awards night. With 23 home game wins, Aaron Bourque, Belle Plaine Plant Manager, was able to present a cheque for $23,000 to Hunger in Moose Jaw. Sharla Sept, Executive Director, on hand to accept the donation said, "this gives all kids a chance to focus on learning instead of their growling stomach".
Wins for Hunger Presentation
Yara provided game tickets to the staff and volunteers of Hunger in Moose Jaw so they could be on hand for the announcement. Yara also invited Grade 5 & 6 students from Prince Arthur Elementary School; a school that participates in the lunch program. Popcorn and drinks were provided for everyone and the kids (many of whom were attending their first hockey game) had a great night cheering the team to a win.
Yara, together with hockey, helping hunger - very Canadian!
