4-H Lottery Grand Prize sponsored by Yara Belle Plaine

A partnership between Yara Belle Plaine, A.E. Peacock Collegiate and Saskatchewan 4-H has resulted in an impressive grand prize greenhouse for the 25th Annual 4-H Saskatchewan lottery.

Yara Belle Plaine provides the building materials, students from A.E. Peacock build the grand prize, and 4-H clubs across the province benefit from selling lottery tickets. The greenhouse design chosen for this year’s lottery is garnering some very positive feedback and ticket sales are expected to be strong.

Many students had the chance to help with the greenhouse under the supervision of the Peacock’s shop teacher, Joel Robinson with the project taking about 25-30 working hours to complete.

This is a wonderful example of youth helping youth. As one of Saskatchewan’s largest youth organizations, the 4-H strives to develop leadership skills for its members – primarily through the completion of projects. It is very suiting that Peacock students gain these same skills working together on a project for 4-H.

Funds raised through the lottery support 4-H clubs across the province of Saskatchewan. The greenhouse will be on display at Moose Jaw’s Home Hardware until the August 24th lottery draw date.
