Yara has been conducting research trials across North America measuring field-level N2O and Carbon Footprint of our crop solutions. Here is a glimpse of these studies.
Western Canada Nature Positive Nitrogen
In collaboration with SM Ag Research, this study has the objective of building out Yara's nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and greenhouse gas impacts with YaraVeraAMIDAS quantifying the effects of YaraVita PROCOTE and inhibitors in favor of emission benefits, soil health and improved water use.
The scope of the study includes:
- Comparing in-season N2O field emissions in wheat
- Measuring grain yields in wheat with various nitrogen fertilization strategies
Rice Farming Solution
This study intends to evaluate nitrogen fertilizer management strategies that directly reduce yield-scale N2O and CH4 emissions in furrow rice systems. In collaboration with the Agricultural Research Service of USDA, the study will:
- Compare seasonal N2O and CH4 emissions from furrow rice fertilized with urea and YaraVera AMIDAS
- Measure grain yields from furrow rice with various nitrogen fertilization strategies
- Determine yield-scaled global warming potentials of furrow rice fertilized with YaraVera AMIDAS
